Doesn't ConXioN have sufficient expertise to implement such a cafeteria plan?
No, we did not set up a cafeteria plan ourselves, preferring to leave this to specialists. In principle, every social secretariat offers a cafeteria plan, but it is often a complex story. Payflip is a flexible partner and takes a no-nonsense approach. You have no unforeseen costs, they stick to the agreed package and what you need, you also get your hands on.
Bike leasing seems to be getting more popular every day. Did you get any demand for it from colleagues?
Hanne: We don't jump directly on trends, but bicycle leasing is particularly interesting because the benefit is twofold. On the one hand, there is the tax benefit, so bicycle leasing is an indispensable pillar in the cafeteria plan. On the other hand, there is the health aspect, because it encourages your employees to exercise more.
How did you subsequently come into contact with o2o?
Hanne: o2o is a regular partner of Payflip. After a brief comparison between different bicycle leasing companies, o2o turned out to be the most flexible. Their reach is immense (with over 1,000 bike dealers in Belgium who are partners in the o2o network, n.v.d.r.) and for us it is important that a bike dealer is available close to every employee. Even if your bike dealer is not yet part of their network, o2o will contact you without any problem to start a cooperation.
Does bicycle leasing at o2o also frame ConXioN's sustainability strategy?
Hanne: We have long been committed to sustainability and exercise. Our headquarters is right next to the Provincial Nature Reserve the Gavers, so colleagues can easily go for a walk or run in the afternoon. We also have a gym at our disposal and a working group fit@conxion.
Bicycle leasing fits within the mental well-being of our employees. More exercise ensures better mental well-being. Moreover, such a bike makes people feel good, because they can lease a nice bike that they wouldn't buy otherwise.
Why is it that so many ConXioNeers jumped on the saddle?
Hanne: When we hire new employees, we focus on proximity. Because many colleagues live close by, many of them were immediately won over to the lease bike. Had there not been a temporary scarcity of electric bikes, even more people would have opted for a bike.
How was the rollout of the cafeteria plan and in particular for bicycle leasing?
Hanne: Very nice and fast! o2o gave both the HR department and the colleagues a thorough explanation of how everything works with insurance and maintenance. Anyone who still had questions afterwards could ask them in the chat and quickly received an answer. Handy! All this makes o2o a very accessible company. We quickly felt at Payflip that they also choose partners with a direct approach.
How is bicycle leasing received?
Hanne: Very good, because it makes you feel like you're getting a free bike as a gift. You offer so much added value with a cafeteria plan. You would never achieve that with an end-of-year bonus. Nobody thanks me for the end-of-year bonus, but for the flexibility of the cafeteria plan, I got nice compliments.
ConXioN sees the cafeteria plan as an investment. It's quite a labor-intensive process, but an immense addition to the pay package. The outcome is totally worth it, as employees are very satisfied.
